AS we welcome 2012, we brace ourselves to see what this year brings to us in terms of beauty trends. Last year we were introduced to purple lips – a scare at first but it is now one of the top catwalk looks. Then came along the bright eye colours like yellow and red that has taken the beauty world by storm. And lets not forget the bright coloured hair!
The use of colours have been used in ways we never thought to expect over the last year and continues to do so still. Last Summer we seen YSL introducing their seasonal look with yellow and blue eye shadow and now this season it’s not just those two but also purple, pink, blue and green! Then there was Chanel, the proud founder of the ‘yellow nail’.
So as we wait and bite our (probably colourful) nail tips for what 2012 is to behold, I am gladly announcing the beauty trends of 2011 we loved that have thankfully made it into 2012.
EYES
- The Cat Eye
A look we have yet to say goodbye too. The cat eye is a simple look used by eye-liner that is gently swept along the lash line. This years new additon to the look – a double line! Be daring!
- Doll Eyes
Doll eyes are created by the use of mascara creating thick individual lashes. No use of eye-liner or shadow, just the lashes on their own. This creates a more wider eye. Wear this look on your own for a natural day-time look or for the evening use a bright lip colour like red! Gorgeous!
- Thick Brow
A cry out for beauticians but yes, the thick, messy brow has made it through. This look is created by filling in your brow with a brow pencil giving it a more defined, arched and bold look. Lets leave the ‘messy/fuzzy’ look to the catwalk models who can actually pull it off! And no – I do not mean the ‘scouse brow!’
Lips
- Bright Lips
The red lip has made it through once again. Along with coral, berry and mulberry as last years top favourite shades. Lets just hope Chanel won’t bring out a yellow lip shade!
- Rosey Lips
The perfect Spring time look. A rose lip shade that can be used day or night. Pair it with a rosy blush for a simple but natural beautiful look.
- Nudes
Another classic look that would take some hell of a beating to vanish. Nudes consist of neutral shades such as chocolate, caramel, gold and beige colours. Nudes can be used on your lips, cheeks, eyes, brows – everywhere! A golden glow for Spring!
Hair
- Coloured Hair
Once Rihanna introduced the fiery red, every girl around us began transforming their colour. Then came Katy Perry and Amelia Lilly with the baby pink, which is still quite a current trend over the last three seasons. All we know is, it is going to get bigger and better this upcoming year!
- Middle parting/ wavy hair
The days of the full swept side-fringe has slowly but not entirely faded as the middle crease has crept back into the trends. Celebs such as the Kardashians clan and JLO rocked the look all year round.
As for the bouncy wavy hair, celebs like Whitney Port, Kate Midleton and Cheryl Cole certainly made us a bit green! So hang onto the mouse and rollers ladies, its only going to get bigger – literally!
- Iconic Inspiration
From Twiggy and her drawn-on lashes, Audrey Hepburn and her cat-eyes and Marilyn Monroe with her bright red-lip, icons like such will always remain on top in the beauty world along with their fashion and hair styles. Lets just hope in decades to come some generation might look to our red hair and Lady Gaga style! Hmm…
So between the burnt orange and pink lip, the iconic look and the volumized hair – it is clear to say we are in for one hell of a colourful exciting year!
